A Note from the Director

Finally, the weather is cooling off. I just love the warm days and cool evenings. Starting the first of October we will be offering fresh apple cider and all the warm fall time desserts. Please stop by on those cool mornings in October.

Starting on Friday October 7th, the SCSC will be sponsoring a 16 week a Balance In Motion Class which will offer a gentle form of exercise for body and mind. It will improve balance, posture, muscle tone, circulation, and state of mind. Our experienced instructor Marcia Gobeil, who taught Tai Chi will be guiding this exercise program. Her experience and gentle teaching techniques will be an asset to this program. The program will be offered to those 55 years of age and up and run from October 7th, through January 27th, 2017. The class will be held on Fridays from 9:30-10:30. Please call the center at 665-2141 to sign up or for more information. This class is Sponsored by South County Senior Center with a Grant from LifePath, Inc. “Church Street Home Fund (Senior Centers)”

On October 18th, I hope you will join us at South County Senior Center to watch The Jazz Singer, at 10:30 which is a 1980 American drama film and a remake of the 1927 classic The Jazz Singer, released by EMI Films. It starred Neil Diamond, Laurence Olivier and Lucie Arnaz and was co-directed by Richard Fleischer and Sidney J. Furie. Although the film was a critical flop, the soundtrack was enormously successful, eventually reaching multi-platinum status and becoming Diamond's most successful album to date. It resulted in three hit songs, "America", "Love on the Rocks" and "Hello Again".

October 25th, from 1:00-3:00 we will start our Tea Socials, each month we will offer a different theme. This month’s theme will be “Autumn Splendor” so wear your fanciest fall hat. Danish and fun conversation will be provided.

Also on October 26th, at 11:00 we are working in partnership with Mercy Medical Center regarding Stroke Education and what you need to know. Please call Sue if you have question 413-665-9508

I am hoping that on the 31st, you will be able to stop by the center for our Costume Party & Game Day. Judging during Lunch, Prizes will be awarded.
