Tilton Library was established in 1915 with funds bequeathed by Chauncey B. Tilton, a local grocer, and by municipal and private contributions. In the late twentieth century, Tilton Library merged with Old Deerfield's Dickinson Library to become the town of Deerfield's public library.
The Town of Deerfield owns and operates two wastewater treatments plants which serve each of the Town's two villages, South Deerfield and Old Deerfield. The facilities are regulated by both MADEP and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and operate under discharge permits jointly issued by these agencies.
