  • No, in Massachusetts you are required to have an electrical license.

  • Inspections are required for any electrical work small or large. Electricians/ Electrical Contractors are required to apply for and obtain an electrical permit. Depending on working being completed, there will be at least one inspection or there may multiple inspections. Your Electrician/ Electrical Contractor will request inspection/s and coordinate scheduling.

  • You can request an inspection report from either your Contractor or directly from the Wiring Inspector.

  • Permit fees vary greatly and depend on the work being completed.  Please see the fee schedule for a list of the various fees.

  • We try to process and issue permit as quickly as possible. You may reach out to the Electrical Inspector for the status of a permit application.

  • To request an electrical inspection please email wiring@town.deerfield.ma.us and be sure to include "inspection request" and the address of the proprety needing inspection in the subject line. Please include the type of inspection needed, and the preferred date and time in the body of the email
